Not knowing what to say

I was never good at asking questions. It was not shyness (although I am/was). It was that the moment someone says something I just don't know what to say.

Not because I am rude and don't listen, but because I genuinely don't know what to say.

And whenever I was being asked I also didn't know what to say. Not because I didn't know, but because there was some sort of block.

For the past several years I have been working on this, mainly though saying something "silly" or "meaningless". Because I feel like it is not the problem of "not knowing what to say", but more the issue of "not feeling comfortable enough saying anything".

Exposing yourself like this helps remind that most of the things are trivial and literally nobody pays attention or remembers anything you said. In fact, most of the times people don't pay attention even if they want to know something. Sometimes they have to pay money to motivate themselves to listen.
