Focusing on milestones

It’s easy to discard your accomplishments, especially after you have been doing the thing for quite a while.

But then over time you might feel the drudge, how tiresome and boring this thing is – you don’t even want to do it anymore. Though you loved doing it.

I have had this recently with programming, but not because I’ve got tired of it. Because my next milestone was set on the moon.

And I stopped really caring about it:

So what if it’s out there?
I would never reach it anyway.

I’ve spent literal weeks doing everything except the thing I love and needed to do: just opening the editor, thinking and typing code.

So I had to throw a couple of milestones along the way: refactor this, add that. Little by little the road ahead started to get filled with little pebbles.

And it was still overwhelming, I got to say that. But I had something to focus on in the hindsight. And so I started following the milestones. Let’s see where this road leads.
