Claude computer use is here
Almost two years ago, I was considering building a prototype for a “virtual coworker” — an AI you could give tasks to do and it would go away on its own computer, do its thing and then get back to you with the result.
Well, Claude computer use is here and it is pretty much that except for the autonomous part.
Why didn’t I do it?
Well, let’s put it this way: Anthropic is a multi-billion dollar company backed by the world's strongest economy. I am just a guy in very different circumstances.
I also didn’t think that the models at the time were capable of doing this reliably. To be fair, I still don’t. But they have gone a long way since then.
Anyway, crafting great UX is yet another challenge that these large companies still have to solve.
