A blastering mind
Occasionally I find my self hard to get traction and get in the flow state of work. At other times it’s the opposite: I get sucked in so hard, it is hard to stop thinking about what I’ve been doing.
At this point, the concept of “winding down” is virtually not applicable. I continue working in my mind after I have already stopped and got exhausted.
It might feel overwhelming, but sometimes this state awards with new and unique ideas. Although, I’m not sure it is the only way to get them.
You see, there are seemingly two ways of getting new ideas: one — when you are amidst creative chaos in your own mind; the other when — when you are calm or completely distracted.
In fact, I think the latter might be even more productive. It is “shower thoughts” sort of way of coming up with new ideas.
But it is hard to muster your thoughts when you are all over in your head about your work. And thus, we must seek down time, “doing nothing”. Thinking.
